PASTORS SEMINAR

The Ilula Pastors Seminar and Retreat Center began with a 3 day pastors seminar in January 2008 at the invitation of a local pastor and the Morogoro United Methodist Church District Superintendent. The seminar was attended by 11 pastors, (4 of whom also served as District Superintendents), and the conference Lay Leader. The Rev. Edward Beedle taught John Wesley Theology and John Windell taught 2 days of Prayer Evangelism and 1 day of Stewardship Ministries. The evaluations were excellent and we were challenged to return in 2009 with a 5 day seminar. In January 2009 we added another instructor. Dr. Steve DuCett joined our team as Bible instructor. Ed Beedle again taught John Wesley Theology. The seminar was attended by 10 pastors, (4 of whom also served as District Superintendents), an evangelist, and the conference Lay Leader. Again the evaluations were excellent and we were challenged to return in 2010 with a 10 day seminar. In January 2010 we added the Rev. Chiyona Bourne as Christian Educator Instructor. Seventeen pastors and lay leaders attended the seminar. Dr. Steve DuCett taught the Apostle Paul while John Windell taught Sabbath Reflection and Missiology. Again, evaluations were excellent.

During an open forum, the pastors suggested that we include Vocational Training in our seminars. In order to embrace the United Nations Millennuim Goals, we added two new areas of teaching in 2011. An Agriculture class on poultry production and bee keeping to reduce poverty/hunger and an HIV AIDS Prevention/Crisis Counseling/Support class.
